My experience in Zizi’s house was really pleasant and rewarding. Zizi ís a beautiful young girl, full of enerergy, a hard worker and a great cook. THe amazing thing is that she has learned the English through the tourists that come to her home. She knows how to speak it but she doesn’t know how to write it so I was helping her a little bit with her English…..when she had some time off. She was always busy washing the linen, cleaning the house, cooking, collecting food for the pigs in the small parcels they had close to the house and getting some vegetables planted for cooking.
There are four members in her family; Tinh hẻr husband, a hard worker, nice joung guy, Minh the son, a very smart and hard worker young boy, and the little and cute Lan, the daughter. Thểre ís also a great team of young “helpers”: Giem, an energetic, talented, nice girl that takes care òf the guests that arrive every day. Su, a nice, sweet and also talented girl that together with Giem and Binh makes a great team. And Binh, a young rather quiet, intelligent boy, that helps to run the house. There is also another young woman call Shi that helps with the kitchen. They receive all the guests that want to enjoy a great time living with a local family, surrounded by an amazing scenery, trekking the mountains.
Trekking ís very popular among the guests òf homestays. It can be a 15 km. trekking or a 5 km., trekking. Both go to the mountains where you can find amazing views, waterfalls, rivers, rice fields, incredible butterflies with different colours and sizes, from a very tiny little one to a big, majesty one.
Walking in Sapa is like walking through a time warp. Women with bright red headdresses and clothing covered in colorful embroidery walk by with babies and wicker basket backpacksand on their backs. Girls are miniature versions or their mothers, learning how to embroider (and sell) at an early age. Boys play in the fields and tend to the water buffalos. Houses are simple structures with dirt floors, often without electricity or running water.
Zizi’s homestay ís located at the bottom of the hill. It ís close to other houses with families that live in the same area. Thếse families have pigs, chiken, ducks, bufalos and dogs
